Is it really a surprise that K loves Mexican food, or should I say Tex Mex? It's kind a part of his DNA, I think! Brian and I both LOVE Mexican, I mean Tex Mex food...I would probably say it's my favorite "ethnic" food. Although, I really don't think Tex Mex is ethnic...except that it's Texas's ethnic food, maybe? Tex Mex is very different than Mexican food, although most Gringo's would call it Mexican food. In case you have nothing better to do 5 days before Christmas here's the difference between the two Tex Mex vs Mexican
Regardless...Brian and I both grew up on this fare, he in San Antonio (the birthplace of Tex Mex)...me because my Mom brought tortillas and Pace picante back from Texas every summer growing up. Yes, there was a time when you couldn't buy tortillas or salsa in the grocery stores in IL...oh, how far the Midwest has evolved! I think you can likely even buy Pace picante in New York City...(did anyone get the reference)
Wow...that was a whole lot of rambling to share a few photos on our last trip to Gringo's a local Tex Mex restaurant literally 2 minutes from our house.
K is all about dipping his food right now...and Gringo's is great because of the chips and creamy guacamole dip that's not spicy.
He wanted a lime and so I gave it to him because I knew it would be good for a laugh and a great photo...the funny thing is that he tasted it several times!
but despite the chips, creamy guacamole dip, and sour limes I'm pretty sure he'd say his favorite part is the free ice cream!
I assure you we did order him cheese quesadillas too...lest you think his lunch consisted of chips, dip, limes, and ice cream!
