This year on my birthday I celebrated the marriage of my cousin, Kate, to her love, Austin MacKintosh. They are the cutest couple and met on eHarmony about a year and a half ago...just after Kate had moved to San Antonio with her daughter, Emma. They lived about 3 hours away from each other, but through many phone conversations and trips back and forth between the Brownwood and San Antonio their friendship blossomed into love.
Right from the beginning of their relationship I had a strong feeling that this was a big part of God's plan for Kate's life....and I was right. Kate and Austin are truly a perfect match and it was a joy to see them married a few days ago. I, of course, had my camera with me and managed to capture some sweet moments from my seat on the 2nd row. Kelly, who I introduced Kate to when she moved to San Antonio, sat next to me and between the two of us we sounded like the paparazzi!
You will quickly notice that Austin, his father (who married him), and his groomsmen wore kilts. Austin spent much of his childhood in Scotland and is also from Scottish descent. When I first heard he was wearing a kilt to his wedding I laughed and thought it was so odd...but honestly, it perfectly fit their relationship and their appreciation for European tradition.
I got to spend some time with Kate before the ceremony so I managed to capture some sweet moments with she, her mom, and sister, Kristina. You will see that I will use the same photo and edit it in several ways. I'm learning more and more about editing and like playing around with Lightroom.
I nearly cried when I walked into the room and she looked at me...actually we both almost cried. We've always been pretty close since our days of playing with dolls when we were young.
When Kate got engaged she called me and told me to begin pinning wedding ideas on Pinterest. I think I pinned similar flowers and I LOVE the way they looked. Her Mom did all the flowers, I think.
Hey, look...it's my BFF, Kelly and I. I can't wait to see what photos she captured.
It was fitting that the only music they had was played by a bagpiper.

one of my favorite photos I've ever taken...such emotion in this photo!
there's just something about wedding photos in black and white

One of the sweetest parts of the wedding ceremony was when Austin gave Emma a ring to symbolize his love and devotion to her as a father has for his daughter.
Then they took communion and blended 3 different color sands to symbolize their new family of 3.
You may kiss your bride :)
Kelly took some photos of Brian, Karsten, and I before Brian had to return to Houston for some important meetings at work the next morning....but not before I snapped a few photos of she and Ryan

I didn't take any photos during the reception because I was caring for Karsten and the lighting was really challenging to photograph in...I did however manage to take this photo before leaving. Austin was holding a very tired Emma and dancing with her and Kate walked up and they danced together as a family...it wasn't formal and many people had already left, but it was such a precious moment full of so much love and adoration.
Kate and Austin---we are all so happy that God led you to each other and that you've started your life together. I cannot wait to see what He has in store for you in the years to come. Enjoy your new adventures together!
