I know that 2011 is going to be a year of stretching and growing for Brian and I. In all of the exciting and mundane moments that 2011 has to offer me I want to take delight in each and every one. Not just the moment that I hold my child for the first time (I strongly believe that will happen this year!) but in the everyday moments.
So this year's word (as you can see from my blog banner) is DELIGHT.
In a recent Bible Study I came across the Psalm 37:4-5 and knew that delight would be the perfect word for 2011. The devotion stated that delight always promotes an action or response. I love that! It's not just being happy... it's showing it! I also want to note that when you delight in the Lord, the desires of your heart will line up with His desires for you.
When I figured out that this would be my 2011 word I began seeking what God would want me to delight in and here are the things He revealed to me:
God's Word--by making a point to read and study His TRUTH everyday. Not just to check of my list, but to truly delight in learning what He has prepared for me on a particular day. I want to memorize more Scripture, journal more, and delight in the new things I learn and apply.
Everyday Life--sometimes I feel like my life is so boring and mundane, but I want to continue to focus on the little blessings in my everyday life. God proved His faithfulness to me by bringing a new heart to me over 3 years ago. It's so easy to take each day for granted, but as someone recently told me, I'm the poster child for heart transplants. Meaning that many people don't recover as well as I did..many people don't thrive in the way I do. I remember when I was sick that everyday chores were a challenge...and although I detest doing laundry I want to make a point in delighting in the everyday things of life. One way I will do this is to attempt to take a photo every day of 2011. I already have my project life kit and plan on putting it together this weekend.
Relationships--I have a great marriage that I often take for granted and amazing friendships that I don't cultivate enough. I want to make it a point to delight in these people in my life and let them know how much they mean to me.
Serving Others--I tend to be selfish with my time and know that I need to stretch and reach out to serve others...and find delight while I'm doing it!
Becoming a mother--I know that this will be the one area that delight will pour out of me along with my energy. When I'm in the trenches of sleepless nights and a crying baby I want to remember that God created me to be a mother...and I want to find delight in caring for the precious child He already has selected for us.
Using my talents--in photography (taking photos of friends and family for free), writing and blogging, cooking, sharing insights, encouraging others

I LOVE the new blog...I so meant to spend some time with you delighting in learning how to make banners and things for the blog while we were in Houston but well, the trip really didn't end up being what we had planned! I've got to change my blog up this year.
My word is Resolve. More on my blog later.
