Happy Thanksgiving....at the Moore house we have watched the Macy's thanksgiving day parade, football is on, Shanda and I are in the kitchen, Braedon is taking his pre-feast nap, and all is well. Have a great day where ever you are...whom ever your with.

Today (and every single day) I am thankful for my fantastic husband. He worked many hours this weekend wrapping my Christmas gifts and working on getting our computer network working so I could use the internet on my laptop. I am the luckiest girl in the world to be married to him. He finds joy in being a good husband and for that I am thankful....

I have spent a huge portion of today going through photos on the computer, albums, and boxes. So today I am thankful that I have taken the time to take photos. Although many have not been placed in albums yet, they are still stored on my computer (and backed up on my external hard drive). I have so enjoyed looking back over the past years that I have done digital photography...to see how I've evolved as a photographer...to see how I make a point to capture everyday life...almost everyday. One album I am working on is an everyday life digital album that will include glimpses into Brian and my everyday life before kids. I really want to archive this special time we have, because I know that once we begin the adoption process our lives (and my photography) will change. Here's a few photos I have found from the files on my computer tonight:

I love the fact that I don't have to go to work tomorrow...it's these holiday breaks that make teaching such a great job. Yesterday I got right to work and began working on checking several things off my list. I've got my Seattle album well on it's way to completion. I should be able to finish it tonight or at least by tomorrow.
I also just put the finishing touches on my Christmas cards. I have to admit that I've decided to order photo cards this year from BHG Life in Photos. I found one that I LOVED.... and although I could recreate it using Photoshop, I decided to just upload photos and have them sent to me. Time is money right now... and with the cost of the ink cartridges, paper, and printing the photos, I figured that I might as well just order them! I could feel guilty for not hand making them, but honestly I don't. Who knows, once I receive them I might add a personal touch...I'll just have to see!
I have chili simmering on the stove right now and it smells delicious. Brian is watching last season's LOST...maybe I can get him to watch Twilight with me tonight :)

Each day from now until Thanksgiving I want to blog about something I'm thankful for:
Today I'm thankful for my ability to see. I believe this is something we all take for granted. My dear friend Becky's sister suddenly became very sick this past Spring and has almost completely lost her eye sight. When I think of her I say a prayer of thanks that I have my sight. I have certainly endured trials, but I cannot imagine how horrific it must be to lose sight. I am such a visual person. I learn by seeing something demonstrated, I get so many creative ideas by seeing them first, and I love capturing people, places and things on "film." I cannot imagine not being able to see some of these things:

Yesterday was the day I had been waiting for for months....the first day of Thanksgiving break...and the day I would see New Moon!!! My friend Denise and I fled school as soon as we could yesterday (we got out at 2:15 because the kids were gone). I ran home to take a shower (I was feeling very grungy after doing dismissal in the rain) and she picked me up at 3:50. We were like little school girls all day waiting to leave school and go see New Moon. In fact, we said we didn't mind the cold, drizzly day because it was just like the setting of the Twilight Saga, Forks, WA. We met her sister and a few of her Twilight loving friends at Little Papas in the city. We sat and discussed Twilight for an hour straight before heading to Edwards Cinema. Right there, at EDWARDS cinema I should have known I would be outnumbered in my "Team Jacob" t-shirt. However, I didn't care because I knew that as soon as the movie would start, Jacob would gain the respect he deserved. I've never been in a movie where the second it began there was cheering and screaming...and as soon as Edward hit the screen it began again...and then the second Jacob took his shirt off...well, there was a lot of screaming. I was NOT disappointed at all. I haven't read New Moon since last year, so all those little details that they probably left out didn't hit my radar. It was fantastic and I hope to see it again. Oh, and on June 30, 2010 I will be at the theater watching Eclipse.

An oldie, but a goody...thought I'd share again...super easy for a weeknight dinner...and this is a recipe that I usually have the ingredients for.
Use different salsa to vary the flavor of this lasagna. Make it smoky with chipotle salsa, or spice it up with the hot stuff.
Yield: 4 servings
Preheat oven to 450°.
Combine first 4 ingredients; spread 2/3 cup sauce in bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish coated with cooking spray. Arrange 2 noodles over sauce; top with 1/2 cup corn and half of beans. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup cheese; top with 2/3 cup sauce. Repeat layers once; top with remaining 2 noodles. Spread remaining sauce over noodles. Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup cheese. Cover and bake at 450° for 30 minutes or until noodles are tender and sauce is bubbly. Let stand 15 minutes. Sprinkle with onions.

Who doesn't love a Saturday?? Yesterday I enjoyed my time at the Nutcracker Market...although it was CROWDED!!! It took me 2 hours to get from my house into the building! Normally this trip should take me 30 minutes. It was packed with women of all shapes and sizes... shopping til they dropped. When I walked in I realized that I needed a plan, so I walked row by row and if a booth didn't catch my attention from a short distance I didn't take the time to look. There were lots of clothing vendors (which didn't interest me), jewelry vendors (one which I stopped at because they had monogrammed items), food vendors (I only stopped at the gourmet apple booth, because one of my favorite fall treats is a caramel pecan covered apple)
Christmas decor (all of which was so big and bulky that I didn't want to hassle with it), and lots of cute artsy vendors which was the reason I went in the first place. I actually didn't buy that much and I stayed below my budget. I think I was so overwhelmed and frankly annoyed at some points. One of my favorite buys was this tiny felt ball purse, which is completely impractical and I will never actually use a a purse, but it just makes me smile (and it was cheap!) It is currently hanging in the scrapbook room.

A "WILLY WORM"....my mom and i were just having a conversation last week about how we don't have willy worms in Houston...I stand corrected...this was on my porch this morning!

Oh, and on a very exciting note: I bought my New Moon ticket today! I am so excited!!!!! And I bought this today. I've been wanting some "perfume", I had a Bath and Body works coupon, went there, and smelled this ...liked it...and then saw the name and knew it was meant to be. Seriously, do they know their audience or what! I mentioned the name to the check out girl and she tried to convince me that the company develops products years in advance (which I could believe), but the name of this is not by accident.
