Alas, I will finally tell you about my Memorial day weekend in Nashville, TN with my 3 best friends from college; Becky (the red head), Christie (nicknamed "Weeza" in college because she has this great southern drawl..she's the tall one with short black hair) and Dawn (the one with short brown hair).
I arrived at the airport in time to have a breakfast burrito inside the airport terminal. I then hopped on my SW plane and enjoyed a less than 2 hour flight to Nashville.
Walking through the terminal at the Nashville airport they had a live band playing country music which made me giggle and know that I was indeed in Nashville (the country music capitol). I called Becky and Dawn who were driving from Greenville, IL (where we went to college and where Dawn lives) to see how close they were. I grabbed my suitcase and they picked me up about 20 minutes later. The three of us grabbed a salad at Ruby Tuesday near the airport and then headed back to pick up Christie who was arriving shortly. Soon we were all together...jumping up and down and hugging each others necks. Thankfully Dawn had a gps system in her car so we plugged in the hotel address and went straight there to check in. Our hotel was situated in a great area on the Vanderbilt campus. We unloaded, got settled and then took a walk to a beautiful park across the street that houses the only replica of the Greek parthenon. It was a great place to walk, talk, and take some photos. (Everyone had their camera, but I was the designated photographer because I have the "fancy" camera...if you know me...I didn't mind at all. I even convinced each of them that my camera isn't hard to use and they each took some photos with it as well)
a reflection picture of all of us....7 years since we've all been together!!!
Christie and Dawn catching up...Becky talking to her sister on the phone...me taking photos
loved the architecture of this structure...
After our walk in the park we freshened up and decided to go to 2nd street where all of the live music is located. We found ourselves at Wild Horse Saloon where we enjoyed some good food and great 80's music. We had a great time singing along to the 80's cover band playing.

sorry Bec...I just couldn't resist!!
After a good nights sleep we headed to the famous Pancake Pantry for breakfast. As usual there was a line to get in, but there were some cute shops nearby that I was able to browse through while the others held our place in line.
across the street from Pancake Pantry...I love the old main street vibe
I enjoyed taking these photos at one particular shop
thought this was a cute idea for hanging photos, cards, etc....yep, it's from a bed
Then we finally got our anticipated pancakes. (note: I'm not a pancake person, but since we were at the pancake pantry I felt like I needed to partake in the speciality and I am glad I did...look at this yumminess...pecan pancakes with a special pecan syrup...delish!!)
So after we stuffed ourselves we headed to Franklin, TN. This is where alot of the country and christian music stars live, although if one past us on the street we didn't notice ;) I got this photo off the web
We spent a couple hours mainly window shopping and just enjoying the beautiful weather.
then we found a bubble machine...so what did we do...we played!!!
ok...well Christie and I just posed...(not sure why this is being underlined?)
since I was parched I got a green tea lemonade at the starbucks where Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban get their fix (a friend who lives in Nashville told me this)
After Franklin we headed to Opry Mills to do some outlet shopping and then onto the Loveless Cafe for a yummy dinner with my friend Cindy (who lives in Nashville). They served the best biscuits I've ever had.
The next day we went to church with Cindy. One of our college friends, Jay is a youth pastor at this church so we were able to see him too. He hasn't changed a bit!
That just about wraps up my great girls getaway. We're planning another one for November, but they are all coming to my house. They were supposed to come the weekend that Ike hit...and well...you know that story. Thanks for reliving my weekend with me...for those of you who have told me that I haven't been putting enough photos on my blog...you should be satisfied now :)
