So, if you've been living under a rock, or just not tuning into the news you aren't aware of a HUGE hurricane heading for the texas coast. As of right now it's expected to hit late Friday afternoon, with the eye of the storm not hitting until Saturday afternoon. It appears that it will be a category 3 storm. The weathermen are forcasting for it to hit anywhere from Corpus Christi (5 hours south of us) to Houston. Most likely closer to Houston. We are in a no mandatory evacuation zone, although just 15 miles away where my aunt and uncle live are under a mandatory evacuation, mainly because they are that much closer to Galveston Bay. We have decided to stay put in our house. Brian is currently boarding up some windows and our roof was built with hurricane straps so although we might loose a few shingles our roof should be fine. I have lots of batteries, canned goods, water and a gas stove. So we're good as far as food and water goes. We will most likely lose electricity which won't be fun, but most of Houston if not all of the city will lose electricity, so we decided not go to Aunt Gail and Uncle Jim's on the other side of the city. I'll blog once the storm has cleared and we have electricity. Check back tomorrow for some Seattle photos...
Angela,
Stay safe, and try to let everyone know you are OK as soon as you can....hang in there! I have family in that area as well, and they are also staying put. Take care!
