Part of the work that God is doing in my life right now includes majorly decluttering my house....especially my closet. One of the things that Peter Walsh said on Oprah the other day was that the average person wears 20% of their clothes 80% of the time. Now obviously we have our seasonal clothing, but I know that this is very true of my wardrobe. And since I've lost so much weight I have a lot of stuff that just doesn't fit anymore. Instead of holding onto way too much stuff I've just decided to get rid of it and as I gain weight I will just add those basic things I need in larger sizes. So I have done a serious overhaul of my closet. I have an enormous pile of clothing to take to a resale shop (so I can get some money for my really nice stuff) and I've also filled about 4 shopping bags with other more worn clothing to take to Goodwill.
One of my cleaning motivation resources that I've recently found again is The Fly Lady. This lady is awesome and helping you take the steps to declutter your home and then manage your home on a daily basis. The first thing she asks you to do is to shine your sink, so that's the first thing I did today. I mean I really cleaned my kitchen sink, with baking soda, soft scrub, a toothbrush, a knife, and alot of elbow grease. It took awhile, but it looked so good once I was finished, and honestly once I did that I was totally motivated to clean the fronts of my cabinets, the stove, and all of the nooks and crannies that get caked up with splatters and spills. I challenge everyone to check out The Fly Lady this weekend and find 2 things you can do to declutter your life!
