Music whether it’s the tune or lyrics all forms of music touch our lives on a daily basis. Some songs can even have the power to take us back to a place and time or remind of us a person who we may not even know anymore. Music has the power to bring up the same feelings and thoughts we felt so long ago. Music can alter someones mood in just a few beats. Music can define times in our lives…. I remember hearing “I could not ask for more” by Sarah Evans after getting engaged to Brian and thinking ‘this captures exactly how I feel right now’.
So here I am….a new chapter in my ever growing novel….and here’s the song that resonates with me beyond words.
02. Praise You In This Storm---Casting crowns---lifesong
Written by Mark Hall / Music by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms
Romans 8:28 / 2 Corinthians. 4:16-18
Psalm 42:5 / Psalm 121:1-2
Job 1:20-21 / Daniel 3:16-18
I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
And stepped in and saved the day
Once again, I say Amen, and it is still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear you whisper through the rain
I’m with you
As your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I’ll Praise you in this storm
And I will lift my hands
You are who you are
No matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will Praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find you
I lift my eyes into the hills
Where does my help come from
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of heaven and earth
Seriously… So what song defines your life right now? And more importantly….what will your lifesong be about...bitterness, anger, envy, joy, courage, perserverence, hope? ….you’re the songwriter for your lifesong…what’s the message in your lyrics?
This is one of my favorite songs too. I just love the power of the words! Let's praise God today and in the midst of our struggles.
