Whew!!!! Karsten and I survived our first week of school! Karsten was a super star! He only shed a few tears the entire week and happily went into class each morning. He is excited to gather his "friends" aka stuffed animals each morning and take them to school. One morning a few of his classmates greeted him at the door saying "hi Karsten"....melted my heart. One of the great things about teaching there is that I get to peek in during the day and see him participating in class and I get a daily report from his teachers. I've found out that he's very quiet, doesn't talk much, but is always obedient to do what he's told. During naptime he never tries to get off of his nap mat and if he cries at naptime he always cries out for his Daddy (interesting, because at home he cries for me). The two people he plays with the most are girls...shocking!!! NOT!
My first week went well too. I have a sweet class of 7, 2nd graders. There was a learning curve at first, realizing that 2nd graders definitely aren't 3rd graders! By the end of the week we all had it figured out and things are running smoothly. My expectations were a little bit too high at the beginning and they were really chatty at first. I LOVE being able to play Christian music during the day and teaching them God's word. This week we learned about the Fruits of the Spirit and did a lot of fun activities related to that.
Next week we're jumping in head first to our curriculum for other subjects. I am so happy to have a 3 day weekend to rest and recuperate! This girl is wiped out!
